Statement from Betty Jo:

"I create drawings of women who express feelings of peace, poise and serenity. They are given a cool and distinct spirit, which is their defensive reaction to the play of crosshatching, parallel and hatching lines. I make an effort to give each woman in my work a glowing existence that defines the inner strength of the individual's sensitivities. Many of my drawings show women retaining a light that does not seem to come from a window or a direct source, but from an inner provenance that gives each woman an attention that is refined in thought and feeling."
